Colombia has become unstoppable in the World Cup qualifiers in the Latin American region. Teams like Uruguay-Brazil could not beat them, Brazil lost 2-1. It remains to be seen whether the record of the only unbeaten Latin team in the qualifiers can hold up against world champions and two-time Copa America champions Argentina.

But today in Barranquilla, Argentina without Messi was sent back by Colombia with the same loss as Brazil. The way Colombia celebrated their 2-1 victory over Lionel Scaloni's side, it may have looked like James Rodriguez had avenged last July's Copa America final loss.

The hero of Colombia's victory is James Rodriguez. In the 26th minute, Colombia went ahead with the goal of Mosquera, which was created by a measured cross by Hames after great skill. Argentina equalized early in the second half with a goal from Nico Gonzalez, but Colombia still won through James Rodriguez's penalty in the 60th minute. Of course, Argentina should have a lot of objections about that penalty.

Despite this loss, Argentina remains at the top of the list in the qualifying round of the Latin region with 18 points in 8 matches. Colombia are number two at the time of writing this report with 16 points from eight matches, but if Uruguay, who are currently playing their eighth match, win against Venezuela, Uruguay will move up to number two again.
