Argentina did not find the rhythm in the whole match. After the break, they got a chance to turn around due to a mistake by the opponent, but the end was not saved. Colombia returned to winning ways after defeating the world champions.

Lionel Scaloni's team lost the World Cup qualifying match 2-1 in the opponent's field Bangladesh time on Tuesday night.

Nicolas Gonzalez equalized in the second half after Yerson Mosquera put Colombia ahead. James Rodriguez scored the winning goal for the hosts from the penalty spot.

The loss ended Argentina's unbeaten run of 12 matches (11 wins, one draw). Their last loss was last November, 2-0 at home to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier.

Colombia's dream was shattered when they lost 1-0 to Argentina in the Copa America final last July. In this victory, they were able to cover that wound to some extent.

Without captain Lionel Messi, Argentina won 3-0 against Chile in the last round of this month's qualifiers. Colombia drew 1-1 with Peru in their previous match.

Against Colombia, Argentina managed just one goal with 13 shots on goal while holding possession 52 percent of the time. In contrast, the hosts had 5 of 9 shots on target.

Colombia got their first significant chance in the eighth minute. Hefferson Lerma couldn't keep his head on Rodriguez's cross.

In the twelfth minute, the Colombia goalkeeper left the post to stop Julián Alvarez and came out of the box on the left, but the Manchester City forward's shot was not on target when he tried from an awkward angle.

Colombia took the lead in the 25th minute to the cheers of the home crowd. Rodríguez played a low corner with a team-mate and lofted a high cross to the far post, before Mosquera found the address with a leaping header.

Argentina got two 'half chances' at the end of the first half. Nicolas Gonzalez's shot in the corner was cleared by a defender after Colombia failed to clear a corner. Lautaro Martinez couldn't keep Konakuni's shot on target after that corner.

Argentina equalized at the beginning of the second half. Gonzalez went ahead to handle the challenge of Mosquera who was stuck with the ball near the midfield after a wrong pass by Hames. The 26-year-old forward entered the box and found the net between the two legs of the Aguan goalkeeper.

In the 60th minute, Rodriguez's successful spot-kick led Colombia again. Argentina defender Nicolas Otamendi fouled Colombia's Daniel Munoz in the box, and the referee awarded a penalty with the help of VAR.

Duran had a good chance to extend the lead in the 72nd minute. However, he shot weakly past goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Lautaro Martinez got a chance in the 84th minute. He got the ball outside the box and went inside, but could not take a shot in the challenge of the opponent, Seri and last season's best player Martinez.
